Blues musician and vocalist Von Johin hails from Nashville, TN and grew up in the good ol' southern US of A playin' juke joints all across the chitlin' circuit. An ardent follower of the greats from the world of blues music, Von Johin delivers power shows several times each week live in Second Life at blues clubs, festivals and other fun venues where they loves the blues and what not.

He's notorious for playin' as long as the peoples demand it, sometimes as long as three hours, but usually around two hours. With his trusty Gibson SJ200 in the real and virtual world, plus the Epiphone EF500RA and Valve Jr rig that he endorses from Epiphone, Von broadcasts each show live from his Blues Note Studio on the outskirts of Nashville, TN soon after he's done filled up on some smoked pig, cornbread, collard greens and all the fixins with a tall glass of Co-cola or some sweet honey nectar of the gods iced sweat tea to wash it down and cool his sweatin' from pickin' a mess or two. Mmmm, mmm. Mighty good stuff, ya'll.

Von playing Live at Buddy's Bar on the Link below..

Von done got signed in the summer of 2008 to Reality Records, from Reality Entertainment's group of book, film and record labels, and got put smack dab in the middle of a motley crew of folks like Krokus, KC & the Sunshine Band, even Marcy Playground. Now don't that beat all??

Look for Von the Revelator in 2009 on iTunes and other fine retail sites, from Reality Entertainment, and ya'll visit VonJohin.com to find out what he's a playin' next. Ain’t nothing else like him nowhere on second life, so tune in, sit back and turn on your love-light every week at johin’s blue note club, or catch special appearances as announced!

Primarily influenced by the British and European folk tradition, Russell has played in bands and ensembles covering many musical genres and as a solo artist and street singer in London, Paris and Vienna.

FORSYTHE WHITFIELD Live@Buddy's Bar - Sat 23th May - 4pm slt (12pm irish time)

We Welcome Back the great Roots & Blues artist Forsythe Whitfield, from Canada back to the Buddy's bar stage.

Forsythe has been playing the blues for about 10 years now and is hooked on slide guitar and ukulele. He finds almost no division between the blues and modern roots music. He believes in the song and in delivering an honest performance. Expect a mix of slide blues guitar, hot instrumentals and ukulele tunes mixed with a wry sense of humor and a keen observational mind.

Forsythe has toured Canada extensively. He explains that Second Life has been instrumental in the growth of his music career in the last year. "Since I've been playing shows here in SL, my online CD sales have increased and there are more folks e-mailing me about my music. I have been preselling my CDs to help fund them for a number of years, and this time most of the subscribers to the CD are residents of SL. Normally to sell CDs an independant artist like me has to spend time on the road. Playing for the people where they live. With SL I play for the people from my home and they meet me in the place we both live, Second Life."

In RL his name is Manitoba Hal Brolund.

Like anyone whose name is a place, Manitoba Hal wears his love for his roots on his sleeve. But those roots aren't just in the prairie soil. Hal's got a songwriter's roots in eerie folk - murder ballads and killer floods - and a player's roots in the deep, dark, fixin' to die blues. This is a man who can sing the word "lonesome" like he means it, and no mistake.

Highlights of Hal’s career include; opening for Kelly Joe Phelps, Mose Scarlett, Fred Eaglesmith and Micheal Jerome Browne, sharing the stage with Dr. John, Colin James, Big Dave McLean, Phil Guy, Ken Hamm, Amos Garrett, Valdy, Tim Williams, Don Ross, Bill Bourne, Lester Quitzau, Washboard Hank, Suzie Vinnick, Danville Dan and Fruitland Jackson.

SENJATA WITT Live@Buddy's Bar - Friday 22nd May - 2pm slt(10pm Irish time)

Senjata (pronounced Sen-YAH-tah) Witt performs heavily Celtic and folk influenced "roots blues", interwoven with American, British, and Celtic folk musics, bluegrass, jazz, and just about anything else she can wrap in her unique acoustic style.

The Bastard daughter of a gypsy piano tuner, Sen's life was steeped in music from the moment she drew breath, her father's tastes strictly classical, while her mother influenced her with a colorful pallet of jazz, rock, blues, folk, and assorted cultural and ethnic sounds. At the tender age of 5 she was given a tiny classical guitar, and a few lessons, which she enjoyed, but the gypsy lifestyle made it impossible to maintain. With her father's work, there were pianos in her world almost constantly, and she learned their construction and how to repair their complex inner workings, from filing hammers to replacing fragile bridal tapes, she never quite took to the instrument, her mother's wilder infulences drawing her steadily even then to the guitar. At 12, she was given her first electric, along with a small amplifier, and a few more lessons, which she readily devoured, but it wasn't until a few years later, when a friend of the family gave her his cherished steel string folk guitar, that she really began to find her own way, almost instantly taking to the streets of Seattle as a busker, where she found a whole lifestyle, and a place she truly felt was home.

In 2005, returning from performing at a medieval fair in British Columbia, She and her companion were devastated by a spontaneous car fire, and all of her instruments were lost. Although an outpouring of generous help from friends and community allowed her to "replace" her instruments, the wounds ran deep, and Senjata's will to play was nearly crushed. It wasn't until she stumbled upon another talented acoustic musician here in Second life in the fall of 2008 that the fog of her grief finally left her, and she took to the strings once again. Her love for the SL live music community runs very deep, in both worlds.

ANEK FUCHS Live @ Buddy's bar Friday 23rd May 3pm slt (11pm Irish time)

Anek has been playing the California beach and mainland curcuit as well as a major portion of internet guitar oriented chatrooms for some 30 years now. Heavily influenced by Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Yngwie Malmsteen and other guitar greats, Anek brings his electric guitar to stage for the experience. Says Anek "I like to provide the listener with the option of imagined flight by providing a melodic landscape for long distance universal travel, that makes for a nice escape from any reality." Currently Anek is working on a presentation design to cover a wider listening group, it will feature acoustic work, as well as vocals along with his normal flame embracing virtuoso style, he is also working on bringing several tour concepts to a reality within SL for all to see and hear. You too can be a part of the bliss set forth by the almost creepy tremolo work, and soaring notes that reach deep into the soul and help you to search for that place you would most like to be at the given moment.

Anek Fuchs was voted one of the two best male musicians in second life according to peers, and the LEMA awards. He tied with Max Kleene. He is not the usual type of musician sticking to one or two styles, he is rich mix of many genres blende to give us the unique experience that is Anek Fuchs. Come and feel it first hand at Buddy's Bar.

RUSSELL EPONYM Live@Buddy's Bar - Wednesday 13th May -2pm slt (10pm irish time)

Russell Eponym (Russell Taylor Ashby) is a British folk singer currently resident in the US. He was one of the first live musicians in Second L ife and has performed in most of the major venues. Primarily influenced by the British and European folk tradition, Russell has played in bands and ensembles covering many musical genres and as a solo artist and street singer in London, Paris and Vienna.

As a musician, Russell's major influences include Davy Graham, Bert Jansch and John Renbourne. It is not surprising, therefore, that he is a versatile and accomplished guitarist. His unique sound is characterized by his meticulous fingerpicking style, his soft lulling voice and charming British stage presence. Russell also plays mandolin, banjo and harmonica, though it is as a guitar player that he has become so well known and popular in Second Life.

Russell is also a songwriter and poet and his many fine compositions have become regularly requested at his performances. His songs have an enchanting, lyrical quality and musical flow which have been likened to the sounds of 'summer mountain streams'. His repertoire also contains many songs by other writers such as Donovan, Dylan and Knopfler, but Russell always manages to recreate something in his inimitable style.

Russell also enjoys close contact with his audiences and will often take a few minutes to tell a story or to explain the meanings in a song. He is always articulate and always tasteful in his choice of words.

Some things which have been said about Russell Eponym's performances::

"One of the most intimate live music experiences to be found in SL" (Sternberg)

"Russell Eponym, gentleman guitarist, romantic squire and songsmith.........Russell is an accomplished guitarist as well as a superb harmonica player - his finger picking is of the highest calibre and his eloquent vocal style, reminisent of the finest British thespians of the West End Theatre District, is rich and engaging- whether he is singing one of his original compositions, or any of his superbly selected covers. Russell shares his vast knowledge and joy in each song he presents with his audience, demonstrating his rare ability to make each audience member a part of his personal musical journey" (Metaverse)

"We guarantee that you will be musically embraced with his talent, warmth, and his extraordinary passion for music and musical stories" (Metaverse).

"Russell will put you under a spell with his soft, beautiful voice, singing his own songs. I swear you can see the stress of the day roll right off you. This man has that calming effect and leaves you feeling like a new person" (Paradise Defined)

"Russell Eponym, with that British accent, beautiful guitar style all his own, lovely harmonica interspersed, topped off with a voice that rings through straight to your heart and soul" (Cuddlers Cove)

"His individual fingerpicking style, mellow vocals and a surprising dash of harmonica. Russell's unique sound and his versatile and accomplished guitar playing and his ability with mandolin, banjo and harmonica create a gig that you simply don't want to miss" (Cuddlers Cove).

KELVINBLUE OH Live@Buddy's Bar - 8th May - 3pm slt(11pm irish time)

Kevin Allen Navy (Composer, Guitarist and Lead Vocalist) Founder of Knavy and the Blues On The Run Band

"It ain't the blues if you ain't paid the dues."

And Kevin Allen Navy sure has paid his fair share.

But no litany of woes for this bluesman, though.

For Kevin, the blues are a celebration of life, an affirmation that at the end of the journey is salvation.

Born in 1953 in Houston, Texas, Kevin got his first guitar when he was 9, a gift from his mother, although he actually started playing on his second guitar because the first one, bought at an auction, was "so bad she went and smashed it."

That second guitar "I took with me everywhere I went" and started playing even before he learned how to tune it. It "kept me out of trouble."

But Kevin's epiphany came one day when "my Dad asked to borrow my guitar. Then he took a bottle and started playing slide and when I heard that, I told myself, 'Man, that's what I wanna do.' And it's what I've been doing since."

And how.

From the very first band he formed, Blues on the Run, to his incarnation in the virtual world of Second Life as solo bluesman Kelvinblue Oh, Kevin has been faithful to his music, earning him the admiring monicker of "The Real Deal" from a loyal and still growing army of fans.

It wasn't a smooth journey, as Kevin himself is the first to admit. But, as he quickly adds, "sure been a wild ride," and one he has no plan of getting off of.

Early on, he came under the spell of some of the greatest influences of his life, like Albert Brooks and, of course, Jimmi Hendrix. He also went through what he calls a "rock and roll phase," playing "Lynnyrd Skynnrd and ZZ Top-style boogie woogie."

From the early 1980s, when he moved to Breaux Bridge, La. and hooked up with Andre Espree and his band, Bo Jacque and Zydeco Hi-Rollers, with whom he recorded an album, Kevin earned a name as a guitarist of the unique Zydeco sound.

Through that decade and the next, Kevin would play guitar in several Zydeco bands, even touring England. From 1991, he spent five years with Step Rideau''s Zydeco Band, with whom he played several US cities and cutting three CDs.

Although his involvement with Zydeco lasted until near the end of the 1990s, Kevin never stopped loving and playing the blues, nurturing another dream of his until, eventually, he again formed his own band, Knavy and the Blues on the Run, playing a unique sound he cooked up, which combined Zydeco, rock and roll and the blues -- Zy-de-Rock.

However, Kevin hit another major bump in his life. His health forced him to break up his band and quit playing for a while.

But nothing could keep him for long from the music that was his life, his salvation. And salvation came, albeit from a totally and wonderfully unexpected direction.

A friend invited him to try out what was then a still little known virtual world on the Internet. "I came in but was hardly no one there, so I left," Kevin recalls.

About a year later, he decided to give it another try and returned to find Second Life becoming the bustling, hustling phenomenon it is today. The friend, known in SL as Jenzza Misfit, "helped set me up and then let me play and I've been doing so ever since."

While much about Second Life, including the live music scene, is about experimenting and pushing the limits, Kevin, or Kelvinblue Oh, and his beloved Fender Strat, Miss Blue, have proven that even in this brave new world, it is still soul that counts.

From lowdown roots blues to boogie woogie to flaming covers of his idol Hendrix, Kevin has become a real star in Second Life, which has allowed his honest performances and down home humor to instantly connect him with an international audience that knows and holds on to real talent when they see it.

So diverse is his fan base that when Kevin breaks down the Boom, Boom Boogie, it is an almost sure bet you'll hear him shout out, "We're gonna rock France, the UK, the Philippines, Taiwan, Australia and all points in between," as audience members "shout back" their locations for inclusion. And most everyone who watches him knows his many original songs by heart and "sing" along with him. It isn't unusual either for someone in the audience to say they're jamming along to Kevin on their own guitars or keyboards or some other instrument in RL or real life.

And he's moving on to even better things. Soon, Kevin Navy will be cutting another CD and yes, launching it in Second Life. And if his packed gigs and growing audiences are any indication, once the album is out, we will be looking at Kelvinblue Oh, international music star.

Tonight we welcome back to the Buddy's Bar stage Brano Breen "AKA" Brandon Webb from UK rock/indie band THE SILK PIGS...

Brano is a fantastic singer/songwriter and a pretty dam good guitarist to... he's solo songs are just amazing....writing all he's own material...SIZZLING STUFF from the big man himself...

Brano "AKA" Brandon Webb hails from NR WIGAN, Northwest
United Kingdom ....Come check out Brano tonight at Buddy's Bar :)

you can listen to some of Brano's own solo material on he's myspace site...

click on the link below...
http://www.myspace.com/brandonleewebb

Brandon says that firstly he is a SILK PIG..
One of the hardest working bands to emerge from the UK. The Silk Pigs blend passionate lyrics with rock and roll and come out smelling of bacon. We love them and think you will to. Check out their classic track "In Tents Humming". We guarantee you'll be singing it for the rest of the year...Available to buy on itunes.

The band has been together since October 2007 and hail from Halsall, Wigan and Widnes.

They play their own material and have recorded a demo EP which is online on the band's Myspace site. Check out there myspace site below..
http://www.myspace.com/thesilkpigs

The Silk Pigs have been slinging their bacon all over the north west, Channel M live show on Breakfast TV in Machester on Jan 5th, THREE once a month residencies confirmed (Fluid Live Lounge - St Helens, The Boulevard in Wigan and Bumper - Liverpool) A deal offer from Bizarre Artists that we turned down for reasons of our own, SJP promotions have offered to get our album done and packaged for free, we got a top man in Frank Hedges helping us get out there giggin ( we love u frank!!!) and of course, more and more people joining in with the fun every gig....and have a possible tour of Europe looming with the Frank Zappa Foundation.

Thursday we recorded a documentary on the pigs for the national French Channel 5. The show filmed us in an apartment in Liverpool then during a recording session at Igloo studios featuring interviews with the band and our thoughts on the Liverpool scene, The obligatory Beatles question and of course our history and aspirations. The show will be going out sometime over the next two weeks on French National TV to millions and we will be sent links to the show online soon, when we have it, you have it. Unbelievable eh?

To add to this beautiful time in the pigs life, Rash Records of Liverpool have recently been working with us through promotion and publicity, as well as giving us nice large slots at the beautiful Pilgrim (last night was a corker, thanks guys!). Rash Records have managed to secure some radio play for the pigs. After many emails and calls, Rash managed to get Steve Lamacq to listen to In Tents Humming. After hearing the track, Steve agreed to play it on his show 'In New Music We Trust' on BBC Radio One on Monday 18th May, Sometime between 21.00 and 22.00. Obviously, this is a big deal for the pigs, coming at a perfect time too given that our gig list is quite full and meaty and that, after many Sunday / week night gigs in London, Powers bar In London have finally given us a Saturday night (May 23rd). This could hopefully be something to write home about. We know we love what we do and have found some quality people come out and support us. We have also now confirmed Frank Hedges as the band's manager. Frank has been working tirelessly getting the pigs known. He secured us our first taste of Live TV on Channel M in January, He secured the French National TV stuff and studio recording paid for by the French, he also managed to help us get 3 residencies and countless other things. We just want to say thanks to Frank and everyone for their love and appreciation, it's mutual baby!
