BIGJIM ALLERHAND & TABASCO live@Buddy's Bar Sat 20th June -2pm slt (10pm irish time)

Biography
Jim grew up in a small town in southeast Kansas, and while everyone else his age was listening to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, Jim was listening to Lightnin' Hopkins, Jimmy Reed and Son House. He started playing blues clubs at the advanced age of 13, and these legendary blues figures, along with artists like Sam and Dave and Wilson Pickett, became great influences on both his vocal and guitar style.

His family attended a small Baptist church, and Jim had the opportunity to merge these blues influences with gospel music, which draws strongly from the blues tradition. He led and performed gospel music and sang, along with his four brothers, in churches throughout the surrounding area.

Jim took a four year break from music while he served in the United States Marine Corps, but says "he still had the blues." After his military service, Jim and his family relocated to Southern California. There he picked up his guitar again and made his living as a musician, performing the blues throughout L.A. and Orange County. He also was in demand as a studio vocalist.

As a songwriter Jim has several film credits and a couple of songs cut by Edgar Winter. His credits include the film, "The Waterdance", which starred Wesley Snipes, Eric Stoltz and Helen Hunt, in which both his song and performance were used.

Jim eventually moved with his family to Colorado Springs where he continues to perform and where he also runs Jimbo's Take 2, an outstanding blues and acoustic music club that has hosted such notables as John Hammond Jr., Chris Thomas King, Bob Margolin, Otis Taylor, and Eden Brent along with outstanding local and regional acts. The Jim Adam Blues Band packs the house every time they play, and "Big Jim" Adam is a prominent figure on the regional blues scene.

Jim's album, "Rock Island Line", a collection of traditional and original blues material, has charted on the Living Blues radio chart and the Roots Music Report and has been enthusiastically received by audiences.

Just released, "Live at Jimbo's Take 2", is a high energy, live recording of the Jim Adam Blues Band. This is a group of gifted blues players that enjoy a special chemistry, they have a great time performing together and this is picked up immediately by the audience. Recorded at Jimbo's Take 2, Colorado Springs' "best blues venue", on two warm summer nights, some real blues magic was bottled, it's "down home funky style".

Jim has opened for blues legend John Hammond Jr., Ruthie Foster, folk icon John Stewart, Chris Thomas King, Michael Johnson (“Bluer than Blue”), Jake Armerding, Cajun rocker Zachary Richard, amongst others.

He is quickly being discovered by a national audience, and is looking forward to touring and meeting a larger audience in the year ahead.

Who says you can't teach and old dog new tricks? BigJim started performing in Secondlife in September of 2008. With a lot of help from SRV (the Blues Preacher), BigJim has really had a hoot performing in second life. The honest musicianship of his thumping guitar and big voice has made him a popular draw in this virtual world. Just stop by one of BigJim's show and you'll get a taste of some of his spicy Blues soup.
BigJim plays a mean acoustic guitar and wows you from the second you hear his wonderful Blues.

This Blues man born in rural Kansas back in the 50s has been performing since he was 13. In real life he's signed with Fossyl Records and is getting airplay around the country and abroad. His Latest project entitled 'Rock Island Line' stayed on the 'Roots Music Chart' (Radio airplay) for 21 weeks. His big voice and skill at storytelling, emotional singing and the honest musicianship of acoustic guitar with that right hand thumping the bass while strumming never fails to captivate his audience.

FORSYTHE WHITFIELD Live@Buddy's Bar - Sat 20th June - 1pm slt (Midnight Irish time)

We Welcome Back the great Roots & Blues artist Forsythe Whitfield, from Canada back to the Buddy's bar stage.

Forsythe has been playing the blues for about 10 years now and is hooked on slide guitar and ukulele. He finds almost no division between the blues and modern roots music. He believes in the song and in delivering an honest performance. Expect a mix of slide blues guitar, hot instrumentals and ukulele tunes mixed with a wry sense of humor and a keen observational mind.

Forsythe has toured Canada extensively. He explains that Second Life has been instrumental in the growth of his music career in the last year. "Since I've been playing shows here in SL, my online CD sales have increased and there are more folks e-mailing me about my music. I have been preselling my CDs to help fund them for a number of years, and this time most of the subscribers to the CD are residents of SL. Normally to sell CDs an independant artist like me has to spend time on the road. Playing for the people where they live. With SL I play for the people from my home and they meet me in the place we both live, Second Life."

In RL his name is Manitoba Hal Brolund.

Like anyone whose name is a place, Manitoba Hal wears his love for his roots on his sleeve. But those roots aren't just in the prairie soil. Hal's got a songwriter's roots in eerie folk - murder ballads and killer floods - and a player's roots in the deep, dark, fixin' to die blues. This is a man who can sing the word "lonesome" like he means it, and no mistake.

Highlights of Hal’s career include; opening for Kelly Joe Phelps, Mose Scarlett, Fred Eaglesmith and Micheal Jerome Browne, sharing the stage with Dr. John, Colin James, Big Dave McLean, Phil Guy, Ken Hamm, Amos Garrett, Valdy, Tim Williams, Don Ross, Bill Bourne, Lester Quitzau, Washboard Hank, Suzie Vinnick, Danville Dan and Fruitland Jackson.

JeanChristophe Chevalier Live @ Buddy's Bar Fri12th April 1pm slt (10pm Irish time)

We are delighted to welcome the great guitar player that is JeanChristophe Chevalier to the Buddy's bar stage...

Born in France in 1961, Jean-Christophe comes from a family of musicians. His parents took his name from Romain Rolland's character, a child from a modest family background who becomes a famous pianist.

In his case it's the guitar rather than the piano! He studied music at the University of Rouen and graduated in Musicology. He also studied Composing and Electro-acoustics at the National Music School of Dieppe.

Eclectic at heart, dabbling in everything, he mixes styles in an unlikely cross-breeding: Classical music, Celtic, Blues, Pop, Electro-acoustics... He is in love with the sound, in search of the absolute purity, the crystal simplicity which gives his music a force and a transparency able to transport the soul.

Check out JeanChristophe Chevalier's beautiful guitar playing:

RUSSELL EPONYM Live @ Buddy's Bar Wednesday 10th June 2pm slt (10pm Irish time)

Russell Eponym (Russell Taylor Ashby) is a British folk singer currently resident in the US. He was one of the first live musicians in Second L ife and has performed in most of the major venues. Primarily influenced by the British and European folk tradition, Russell has played in bands and ensembles covering many musical genres and as a solo artist and street singer in London, Paris and Vienna.

As a musician, Russell's major influences include Davy Graham, Bert Jansch and John Renbourne. It is not surprising, therefore, that he is a versatile and accomplished guitarist. His unique sound is characterized by his meticulous fingerpicking style, his soft lulling voice and charming British stage presence. Russell also plays mandolin, banjo and harmonica, though it is as a guitar player that he has become so well known and popular in Second Life.

Russell is also a songwriter and poet and his many fine compositions have become regularly requested at his performances. His songs have an enchanting, lyrical quality and musical flow which have been likened to the sounds of 'summer mountain streams'. His repertoire also contains many songs by other writers such as Donovan, Dylan and Knopfler, but Russell always manages to recreate something in his inimitable style.

Russell also enjoys close contact with his audiences and will often take a few minutes to tell a story or to explain the meanings in a song. He is always articulate and always tasteful in his choice of words.

Some things which have been said about Russell Eponym's performances::

"One of the most intimate live music experiences to be found in SL" (Sternberg)

"Russell Eponym, gentleman guitarist, romantic squire and songsmith.........Russell is an accomplished guitarist as well as a superb harmonica player - his finger picking is of the highest calibre and his eloquent vocal style, reminisent of the finest British thespians of the West End Theatre District, is rich and engaging- whether he is singing one of his original compositions, or any of his superbly selected covers. Russell shares his vast knowledge and joy in each song he presents with his audience, demonstrating his rare ability to make each audience member a part of his personal musical journey" (Metaverse)

"We guarantee that you will be musically embraced with his talent, warmth, and his extraordinary passion for music and musical stories" (Metaverse).

"Russell will put you under a spell with his soft, beautiful voice, singing his own songs. I swear you can see the stress of the day roll right off you. This man has that calming effect and leaves you feeling like a new person" (Paradise Defined)

"Russell Eponym, with that British accent, beautiful guitar style all his own, lovely harmonica interspersed, topped off with a voice that rings through straight to your heart and soul" (Cuddlers Cove)

"His individual fingerpicking style, mellow vocals and a surprising dash of harmonica. Russell's unique sound and his versatile and accomplished guitar playing and his ability with mandolin, banjo and harmonica create a gig that you simply don't want to miss" (Cuddlers Cove).

ANEK FUCHS Live @ Buddy's bar Friday 5th June 4pm slt (12pm Irish time)

Anek has been playing the California beach and mainland curcuit as well as a major portion of internet guitar oriented chatrooms for some 30 years now. Heavily influenced by Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Yngwie Malmsteen and other guitar greats, Anek brings his electric guitar to stage for the experience. Says Anek "I like to provide the listener with the option of imagined flight by providing a melodic landscape for long distance universal travel, that makes for a nice escape from any reality." Currently Anek is working on a presentation design to cover a wider listening group, it will feature acoustic work, as well as vocals along with his normal flame embracing virtuoso style, he is also working on bringing several tour concepts to a reality within SL for all to see and hear. You too can be a part of the bliss set forth by the almost creepy tremolo work, and soaring notes that reach deep into the soul and help you to search for that place you would most like to be at the given moment.

Anek Fuchs was voted one of the two best male musicians in second life according to peers, and the LEMA awards. He tied with Max Kleene. He is not the usual type of musician sticking to one or two styles, he is rich mix of many genres blende to give us the unique experience that is Anek Fuchs. Come and feel it first hand at Buddy's Bar.

SOUNDCIRCEL FLANAGAN Live Tuesday 2nd June 2009 2pm slt (10pm Irish time)

Soundcircel Flanagan ( RL : Arie Boom )
born and raised in the netherlands.
He started playing music at a very young age,
first instrument he picked up was a drumkit,
but around his eight birthday he wanted to play the guitar,
this was allright as long as he took classical guitar lessons
to learn how to play a decent piece of music.

After a few years he switched to the electrical guitar
and started to join bands, but never could fulfill his musical dreams
so he stopped with playing in bands.
Offcourse he kept on playing and got himself a bass, a keyboard
and loads of recording equipment.
Writing and recording his music at home was a blessing for him.

He started playing SL between April and August 2007,
took a break and returned in May 2008 with a smashing show,
since then he is rocking the grid, playing his gigs,
including some highlights as
the opening of the SLMC island and
the fifth anniversary of Second Life.
He is known and respected for his guitar playing,
his composition skills and his shows.
