Earth | Time Lapse View from Space, Fly Over | NASA, ISS

Time lapse sequences of photographs taken by the crew of expeditions
28 & 29 onboard the International Space Station from August to October,
2011, who to my knowledge shot these pictures at an altitude of around 350 km.
All credit goes to them. I intend to upload a FullHD-version presently.

HD, refurbished, smoothed, retimed, denoised, deflickered, cut, etc.
All in all I tried to keep the looks of the material as original as possible,
avoided adjusting the colors and the like, since in my opinion the original
footage itself already has an almost surreal and aestethical visual nature.

FRETS NIRVANA Live@Buddy's Bar 2pm slt - 10pm Irish time -19th July 2011

Tonight at Buddy's Bar your in for a treat as the fantastic Frets Nirvana make's he's Debut on the Buddy's stage...a show not to be missed, hes not called Frets for nothing..

Frets Nirvana grew up in the rock and roll city of Cleveland, Ohio and in his good old band days could be seen hanging out and playing in clubs with the likes of Joe Walsh, James Gang, Phil Keaggy and Glass Harp.

While playing guitar for as long as he can remember, his love of the instrument has developed into a focus on acoustic fingerstyle guitar.

His music interests are wide. At any moment in time you can hear him playing something from Merle Travis, Chet Atkins or Jerry Reed and then moving on to old Delta type blues tunes, picking up a resonator guitar to play slide, then playing an arrangement of a classic Beatles tune.

Frets feels that life is too short to experience one genre of music and as a result his playing keeps the listener interested by offering a variety that demands Frets constantly concentrate on improving his skills. Of course his old rock and roll roots still come out now and then as well! If you like good instrumental music and you like guitar then check Frets out in his new life in Second Life! You are guaranteed an enjoyable music experience!

HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY EVERYONE

WHOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO

Hi all we will have some live music events going on around the Greater Ireland sims today for St.Patricks day... starting us off this morning at Buddy's Bar with the fantastic Russell Eponym..

check here for some of the eveNts we have going on today .... WHOOHOOO ENJOY

The St. Patrick's Festival at Greater Ireland Russell Eponym Live@ Buddy's Bar 17th March - 4 am slt

Russell Eponym (Russell Taylor Ashby) is a British folk singer currently resident in the US. He was one of the first live musicians in Second L ife and has performed in most of the major venues. Primarily influenced by the British and European folk tradition, Russell has played in bands and ensembles covering many musical genres and as a solo artist and street singer in London, Paris and Vienna.

As a musician, Russell's major influences include Davy Graham, Bert Jansch and John Renbourne. It is not surprising, therefore, that he is a versatile and accomplished guitarist. His unique sound is characterized by his meticulous fingerpicking style, his soft lulling voice and charming British stage presence. Russell also plays mandolin, banjo and harmonica, though it is as a guitar player that he has become so well known and popular in Second Life.

Russell is also a songwriter and poet and his many fine compositions have become regularly requested at his performances. His songs have an enchanting, lyrical quality and musical flow which have been likened to the sounds of 'summer mountain streams'. His repertoire also contains many songs by other writers such as Donovan, Dylan and Knopfler, but Russell always manages to recreate something in his inimitable style.

Russell also enjoys close contact with his audiences and will often take a few minutes to tell a story or to explain the meanings in a song. He is always articulate and always tasteful in his choice of words.

Some things which have been said about Russell Eponym's performances::

"One of the most intimate live music experiences to be found in SL" (Sternberg)

"Russell Eponym, gentleman guitarist, romantic squire and songsmith.........Russell is an accomplished guitarist as well as a superb harmonica player - his finger picking is of the highest calibre and his eloquent vocal style, reminisent of the finest British thespians of the West End Theatre District, is rich and engaging- whether he is singing one of his original compositions, or any of his superbly selected covers. Russell shares his vast knowledge and joy in each song he presents with his audience, demonstrating his rare ability to make each audience member a part of his personal musical journey" (Metaverse)

"We guarantee that you will be musically embraced with his talent, warmth, and his extraordinary passion for music and musical stories" (Metaverse).

"Russell will put you under a spell with his soft, beautiful voice, singing his own songs. I swear you can see the stress of the day roll right off you. This man has that calming effect and leaves you feeling like a new person" (Paradise Defined)

"Russell Eponym, with that British accent, beautiful guitar style all his own, lovely harmonica interspersed, topped off with a voice that rings through straight to your heart and soul" (Cuddlers Cove)

"His individual fingerpicking style, mellow vocals and a surprising dash of harmonica. Russell's unique sound and his versatile and accomplished guitar playing and his ability with mandolin, banjo and harmonica create a gig that you simply don't want to miss" (Cuddlers Cove).

The St. Patrick's Festival at Greater Ireland Senjata Witt at Limerick Castle 17th March - 3pm slt

Senjata (pronounced Sen-YAH-tah) Witt performs heavily Celtic and folk influenced "roots blues", interwoven with American, British, and Celtic folk musics, bluegrass, jazz, and just about anything else she can wrap in her unique acoustic style.

The Bastard daughter of a gypsy piano tuner, Sen's life was steeped in music from the moment she drew breath, her father's tastes strictly classical, while her mother influenced her with a colorful pallet of jazz, rock, blues, folk, and assorted cultural and ethnic sounds. At the tender age of 5 she was given a tiny classical guitar, and a few lessons, which she enjoyed, but the gypsy lifestyle made it impossible to maintain. With her father's work, there were pianos in her world almost constantly, and she learned their construction and how to repair their complex inner workings, from filing hammers to replacing fragile bridal tapes, she never quite took to the instrument, her mother's wilder infulences drawing her steadily even then to the guitar. At 12, she was given her first electric, along with a small amplifier, and a few more lessons, which she readily devoured, but it wasn't until a few years later, when a friend of the family gave her his cherished steel string folk guitar, that she really began to find her own way, almost instantly taking to the streets of Seattle as a busker, where she found a whole lifestyle, and a place she truly felt was home.

In 2005, returning from performing at a medieval fair in British Columbia, She and her companion were devastated by a spontaneous car fire, and all of her instruments were lost. Although an outpouring of generous help from friends and community allowed her to "replace" her instruments, the wounds ran deep, and Senjata's will to play was nearly crushed. It wasn't until she stumbled upon another talented acoustic musician here in Second life in the fall of 2008 that the fog of her grief finally left her, and she took to the strings once again. Her love for the SL live music community runs very deep, in both worlds.

Join us at Limerick Castle for this high amazing, high energy performance that will leave you breathless!

This is an amazing act to see so full of energy and fantastic music. The costumes are copied to every last detail from the real life band. Outlawed tunes on outlawed pipes.

A traditional pipe band they’re not… you’ll probably never see them march in a parade. But Albannach’s rhythms and melodies take you back to that bygone time when pipes and songs were banned because of the power they have to stir stout hearts and Celtic souls.
